Fresh from its EU patent, HisWay Labs introduced its rail-break sensing device to European operators in Madrid as part of a South African trade delegation.
HisWay Labs showcased TrackView at the Rail Live 2025 expo in Madrid as part of a delegation led by South Africa’s Department of Trade, Industry and Competition. It was the device’s first introduction to European operators.
TrackView is a patented, ultra-low-power IoT sensor that detects broken rails and tracks train position using the rail itself as the sensing medium. It was designed for the South African network, so it is solar-powered and built to resist theft and vandalism, and it needs none of the trackside cabling that conventional systems rely on. The technology now carries patents in South Africa, the United States and the European Union.
We recently received our EU patent, so we needed to introduce TrackView to the European market and understand how the market would receive a technology like this.
