Squirrel Away lists its Balanced AMETF on the JSE

Yenza Venture Studio's first investment has listed an actively managed ETF on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, fourteen months after the app launched.

Squirrel Away’s Balanced AMETF listed on the JSE on 16 September 2026. The app, which lets family and friends contribute to a child’s investment portfolio from R10 instead of buying another gift, launched publicly in July 2025 and was the first investment from Yenza Venture Studio’s venture programme.

For Sibongile Maputla and her team, the listing is a proof point that their vision of financial inclusion through gifting is no longer only theirs. For the group, it is a proof point that the studio model works: Yenza’s engineers have worked alongside the founders since the start and rebuilt the technology into what is trading today.

Progress comes from consistent, slow, and incremental improvements interrupted by brief periods of success. Surround yourself with the right team, and execute.

Jacques Burger, Chief Operating Officer, Octoco.
