Octoco Group has acquired a strategic equity stake in HisWay Labs (Pty) Ltd, the Cape-based company behind TrackView®, a rail-integrity monitoring system.
TrackView is a solar-powered sensor that monitors rail integrity and train positioning around the clock. Copper cabling and batteries are the parts that make trackside equipment a target for theft, and TrackView carries neither. It is built for heat, dust, flooding and tampering.
The system holds formal certification and product type approval from PRASA and is deployed commercially in partnership with Siemens Mobility. HisWay Labs will exhibit TrackView at InnoTrans in Berlin from 22 to 25 September.
The company is led by its CEO, Franz Struwig, who previously co-founded the radar innovation firm iKubu, which was acquired by Garmin.
South Africa has a long tradition of solving hard engineering problems out of necessity. HisWay Labs has turned one of our most damaging infrastructure challenges into a globally competitive product. Backing them is a chance to help restore confidence in our own rail network while proving that world-class industrial hardware can come from here.
Heinrich de Lange, Managing Director, Octoco Group. HisWay Labs shared the news on LinkedIn.
